General comments: | Ktima Alpha Estate is located in the northwestern part of Greece, Amyndeon region, Florina. Alpha Estate was founded in 1997, by experienced winegrower Makis Mavridis and oenologist Angelos Iatridis, who, after years of activity in different regions of Greece, chose the Amyndeon region to create their own wine. With respect to nature, combined with high quality and deeply eco-friendly growing practices, based on the most recent international standards. Professional know-how, experience and the team’s effort, are necessary conditions to the desirable result, for the wines sealed under the Alpha Estate label. |

Characteristics: | Bright purple-red color. Complex, typical bouquet of small berries red fruits, leather and spices (vanilla, pepper, clove), with hints of ripe blackberry. Full mouth, rounded tannins, balanced acidity and well integrated wood tones. Long aftertaste with intense quince aroma. Ageing potential: 10-12 years. |
Vinification: | Removal, no crushing, cold soaking – skin contact, alcoholic fermentation at gradually increasing temperatures, keeping the wine on the lees for eight months with regular stirring. 12 months in French oak barrels and 12 months in the bottle. |
More information: | Amyndeon plateau, Amyndeon wine area in NW Macedonia, “Hedgegoh” sub-region, at 690m altitude, with northern exposure, facing Petron lake and Voras mountain. 69ha of Linear, privately owned vineyard situated at an altitude of 620-710 m. The soil is sandy – clayey, with excellent drainage. Continental climate with significant precipitation, snowy winters, dry summers with cool nights, absence of spring frost. |
